Sarny

Sarny was the hometown of  Bronia Cimmerman.  She was born in Sarny in 1921. Bronia had a wonderful childhood there with her parents, sister and grandparents along with many friends.  In September 1939, the Soviet army captured a portion of Poland including Sarny.   Bronia along with her mother and sister fled in July 1941 as the Nazi troops advanced on Sarny.  A year later, some 14,000 Jews from Sarny and surrounding towns were massacred in the woods less than a mile from the local hospital.  To read Bronia’s story click here.  To learn more about Sarny, click here

In September 2009 Bronia Bronkesh, along with her daughter Sheryl and granddaughter Emily Bronkesh-Buchbinder, said Kaddish at the Sarny mass grave 67-years after their relatives were killed there.
